Prepare yourself for Interviews
First few interviews are always like a challenge. It seems intimidating and you find yourself nervous. The point here is, the more you practice, the better you perform.
Your first task is to examine job description. Are you perfect fit for the position or not get it checked. Definitely few things you know, few you can manage and there is something to learn as well. So, such kind of all-in-one profile is qualified for you to go for.
Pay attention to your qualification. See to that is there any connect in between what you studied and what you are expected to perform. If you are so sure with first step then start connecting the dots and link or attach relevant things. Keep record and proofs of the same handy with you. Prepare how you are going to justify every bit of it.
The next step is to do research on the company and role. Know more about company and get familiar with the essentials. Understand their core services, vision and objectives from your end. Put yourself in the role, that way at least you will have an idea of what exactly they are looking for and how can you be the perfect fit for the position.
Practice common interview questions. If you google it, you will understand the flow of quotations that are usually asked in an interview. Like, introduce yourself, your achievements, strengths and weaknesses, where you see yourself from five years down the line, where do you stand in crowd etc. Practice makes man perfect and confident. It's advisable to do mirror practice, mainly to improve eye contact and hand movements.
Do work on your body language and gestures. Be loud, clear and crisp. Your speaking language should be fluent and effective enough . Try to sound as assertive as you can. It is always a good idea to follow great personalities and by copying you can make your way of speaking much better. Make this your habit and see the change within few days.
Mock interviews help you to perform better in actual interview round. Don't skip this part. Initially with no experience you will fumble, you may not be perfect with what to answer, how to answer and how much to answer. Here, you can learn from your mistakes. For overall improvement you have to be part of series of interviews. You can approach your faculty, experienced persons to conduct your mock rounds.
Learn to sell yourself. Selling is an art that everyone has to apply at several stages of life. People will pay attention when you are speaking something worthy, meaningful and relevant to them. Continuous flow, excitement, catching the attention and right choice of vocabulary make you stand out among others. Listen, think and then respond.
Do carry hard copy of resume and necessary documents with you. Take follow ups post interview. Do ask when will you get to know the results at the end of interview. Take follow ups on a humble note. This will portray qualities like responsibility and accountability to the interviewer.
